Kindergarten Here He Comes!

Zack could not wait for Kindergarten to begin, since it started a week after Maddie's school.  He did not think that was fair at all.  But now he's been going for 3 whole days.  He loves to ride the bus.  I think that might be his favorite part.  Today he was telling Grandma Pickett about school and it went like this;
"Calendar-check, reading strategies-check,-rainbow coloring- check."   He thought it was pretty cool that when they make magic dust in their hands and blow it at the screen, the projector turns on.

Madelyn finally gets to go to Real School!

Ever since Zack started preschool last year Maddie's been giving us almost daily updates on what's happening at her pretend school.  Usually they do pretty outrageous things at her school.  Sometimes I've even told her she might have to stop going if the kids are going to keep acting the way she's describing.  Well today she finally got to go to real school.  I kind of wonder if it was a little of a let down.  Real school might be kind of boring compared to the one she has created in her head.  The other day she told us she would miss her pretend school.  I told her not to worry because she only goes to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday so she'll still be able to go to her pretend school every other day of the week.

Maddie's Tangled Birthday Party

Madelynn wanted a tangled birthday party this year.  It was so much fun.  We started by making beautiful crowns that had longs yellow ribbon for hair down the back.
Then we played pin the nose on Flynn Rider.  Of course 4 year old girls didn't really want to be blind folded so only Taysia and Isaac actually played the game.  The other girls just wanted to hang onto the noses they had drawn.
After sort of playing this (Maddie actually had a melt down because she couldn't get the nose right.  We finally figured out she was crying because in all of our party preparations we had forgotten to eat lunch) we headed outside to paint.  The kids loved this.
Our grown up Rapunzel (Hannah) even did a little art work.  (Maddie isn't in the picture because she was snarfing some food at this point.)
Next we got "Tangled."  The idea was to wrap each other up in yellow crepe paper as if it was Rapunzel's hair.  Well The girls were a little shy with this one.  But some of them finallly got into it.

 Even Mommy got "tangled."
After that the hunt was on.  Pascal was hiding in different places inside and out.  He was of course blending into the colors around him so the girls had to look hard to find him but he eventually led them to the treasure chest where their prizes were waiting.  They each got a Tangled bottlecap necklace, a ring pop, and a party blower.  We opened presents.  Maddie was in Heaven.  Favorite gift:  pink cowboy boots from Grandma Pickett.  She wore them to church the next day.

Now we were finally ready for some cake.

The kids had Pascal cupcakes and purple Koolaid.  But some of them really wanted a piece of Rapunzel's dress.

Daddy had put cool lights in the lanterns.  You could barely see the light during the day, but they looked really cool at night.

What a party!  What a cute party girl!

FOUND!

Pink Blanket has been missing for almost a week.  Maddie has been lonely without it, nothing to stick up her nose or poke her toes into at night.  Pink Blanket was hiding behind Zack's closet door.  Good thing we clean rooms on Monday or Pink might have been lost forever!

Lesson Learned: Never comb Maddie's Hair

Zack decided to help Maddie with her hair while they were in the tub this morning.  Unfortunately he forgot the #1 rule of Maddie's hair: NEVER USE A COMB!  It only took about 20 minutes to untangle and luckily we didn't have to cut her hair or break her Snow White Comb.

Zack's Super Hero Room.

We've been working on Zack's room.  He absolutely loves Spiderman and Superman so we decided to paint his room blues and add red curtains.  The kids helped me paint canvases to look like the superhero symbols and we framed an old Spiderman comic book.  I think we'll add a framed Superman   comic book and call it good.  He's pretty happy with it.
